For the kids who grew up with plastic army men, nothing was as cool as the "new" tanks and vehicles being used by the Army. We loved hearing about them and seeing them. To us, nothing was as powerful, and nothing was as awe-inspiring. They made cool subjects for toys, showed up in movies and news clips, and were present at the big parades. The Cool Tanks stayed cool well into the 1960s, when a newer generation of armored weapons started to appear. Appear it did, but when we think of tanks, the old images are the first to come to mind.
