Cool Engineer Tanks of the 1950s

These tanks were adapted for special missions for the combat engineers.  They have unusual fittings and equipment - definitely strange, bit definitely cool.

Here is an M48 fitted with a bulldozer blade.  It could be adjusted and even jettisoned from inside the tank!

An engineering rig built around the M47 tank includes lifting booms, bulldozer blade and a 165mm gun / mortar for blasting into concrete.

High Herman: a mine clearing rig fitted to the from of an M46 tank

Landscaping Lou - another mine clearing device, attached to an M48 tank

AVLB - a bridge-laying tank carrying a portable bridge.

Here is the AVLB doing its job - wow!
