Do you need to get infantry to the right place on time? The Army was on top of that. They did the half-track one better, and came up with the first fully-tracked armored personnel carriers. These early rides were a bit larger than the later M113, and they sure looked cool the kinds. So did that amphibious tractor, even if it was getting a bit old.
