The Tinplate World

Ocean Grove Holiday Show 2003

This is our third year bringing the Tinplate World to Ocean Grove. Unlike the other layouts, ours is strictly 'on the fly." It is a classic O27 railway that is put together on-the-spot. Of course, each year ours is different. I usually have a new car or item, not to mention accessories.

Taking photos is not easy. I have to wait for a lull in the crowd to get pictures. Children especially are attracted to it. The combination of animated accessories, animated operating cars and sleek trains tends to mesmerize them. This year's new additions include the #52 Fire car, Robot and lighted santa Workshop house. The cop & robber animated Gondola was replaced this year by the Wile.E Coyote / Road runner animated gondola.

The Ocean Grove show comes two weeks after the Ocean County Society of Model railroaders has its show. For me, it means two shows in two weeks. I love doing the shows, and of the two, Ocean Grove is by far my favorite.

You can see the Lighthouse to the left, and the Skier accessory and carousel to the left.

The operating skiers accessory has moving skiers and snowboarders. Below is the Robot.

Like last year, our tunnel is a cardboard box covered with a tree skirt, with the skier accessory on top.
