German Uniforms of World War II

The three top genre of military miniatures are the American Civil War, Napoleonics and World War II.  Because of the variety of uniforms, the German Army is highly collected by World War II enthusiasts.  The illustrations in this section show the uniforms and insignia of the German combat forces: Army, Navy, Air Force and Waffen SS.  They show the cut of the uniforms, placement of insignia, and various insignia denoting rank, type of service, etc. These images were made by the U.S. Army  for a 1945 manual.  They are quite accurate, although colors may be slightly off.  That is hard to say, since real uniforms were prone to fade and change color. Nonetheless, this is a useful guide from which to start your own research.
