This basic layout can accommodate a train and motorized unit (such as a trolley) easily. You can set it up easily. By wiring the sidings as blocks, a motorized unit can run along with a fill passenger or freight train. Naturally, you can substitute operating accessories for buildings. In fact, we encourage it!

Easy? Just paint the 4' by 8' surface a base ground color and / or add fake grass. Make sure to paint in the roads! From there, just lay down track, wire it, and add buildings and accessories. In a few hours you have a great little railway for yourself. We used Plasticville buildings, but you can use whatever you like.
