O27 2.5 '  (30 inches) by 5' Layouts


Here are several small layouts, only 30:” (2.5 foot) wide. Only three track systems can fit this width: O27, N and Z gauges. TT and HO curve radius is too big. The layouts here can be used as displays, as well. You would be surprised how much action you can get in a small pike. Of course, it helps to use shorter cars and locomotives. Small pikes like these are great for motorized units and critters.


This little railway can host a couple of operating cars or serve as a trolley pike.

A nice, small railway. Scenery has been centered arousn a heliport with hanger and two landing pads. There is also plenty of room for a couple of operating accessories.

Oval track and reverse with a line for a bumper-to-bumper units (trolley, gang car) Red dot marks a place where one may have the fudge or even trim a peice of track for a tight fit. O27 tubular track usually has enough "give" to mitigate such things. This layouthas a corner that can take a small tunnel, as illustrated.

This tiny railway can accommodate several operating accessories and operating cars. The empty gray rectangles beside oeprating track represent the little black receptacles into which one could dump coal or logs.
