Make this 21' by 8' Layout Step-by-Step
Here's the layout you can build, a little at a time. At 21' by 8', it's one of the biggest budget layouts! This layout uses 72' curves and switches throughout, with regular, half and 40' long O gauge straight track. It allows for excellent switching action, good long running, loop and point-to-point type operations. For those running long trains and who have the space, and those who want to be "scale" it's a project to be enjoyed. Building as we do in stages, even a poor man can eventually have this rich man's layout.
NOTE: There are two parts to this layout Use links at bottom of this section to access the second half of the project.
Start with a wavy dogbone, as shown |
One switch makes a siding on top, a second adds another |
One switch on the bottom spur adds another siding. |
One more switch, one more siding. |
A switch on the right loop and a spur makes a passing siding or cut-off |
