A switch on the upper left cut-off enables a siding to be placed.

The original spur becomes two with the addition of a switch.  Adding four switches, one at a time, will make the four-line freight yard

At the bottom center, two switches help us make a curved cut-off

The big final: two switches on the bottom start a short cut.  Two more make a siding, and one final switch makes a spur.
