The new Atlas O gauge track is finding wider appeal. It is different from traditional tubular rail in several ways. One significant different for layout designers is that unusual curve diameter. Traditional O gauge uses a 31" curve, while Atlas is 26". Likewise, the next size is 42" for traditional O and 45: for Atlas. This makes a difference!
Atlas track, though made for O, is constructed of solid rails and connected by clip-type joiners similar to those used in G, HO and N. It features plastic ties, and is considered to look "more realistic."
