Holiday Display Layouts

4' by 4' Layouts for O27 Track

There are probably more O27 trains sets used as displays than any other scale.  The 27" curves allow maximum action for big trains. In fact, you can get more action with O27 than with O - 31, HO, S or G scales.  For those enamored of the popular porcelain and ceramic holiday villages, O27 trains are sized just right for those buildings.  The trains are also remarkably sturdy, an important factor in a busy home with pets and children.  

I have included some examples with buildings, illustrating how trains and buildings can work together.  Our examples use Plasticville models, which are slightly offscale buildings used by O and S gauge operators.  While fine in their own right, Plasticville is far less appealing than popular porcelain and ceramic buildings sold for the holidays.

The ideal train would be a locomotive and three to five cars.  Smaller loops are excellent for small motorized units like the handcar, #50 gang car, speeders, etc.
