This 4' by 6' layout was inspired by the old Hoboken Shore Railroad.. The shaded area is a grade to a raised section that would include the yard in left bottom, plus the yard inside the right loop. I envision the right yard as railroad facilities, which the lower left spurs are interchanges with a mainline railroad. (You can connect to extend from that yard to a mainline railroad pike). The sidings inside the left loop are local industries, such as a propeller works. Note the use of double-slip crossover switches.
