The Afrika Korps

World War II spread to the North African desert when Italian forces in Libya clashed with British troops in Egypt. In 1941, the German Army sent two division to bolster Italian forces.  Known as the Afrika Korps, this German expeditionary force quickly made itself the stuff of legend.  Led by Field Marshall Erwin Rommel, these divisions defeated forces much larger than themselves.  They seemed unbeatable.  It took the combined forces if Britain and America to finally overcome the Afrika Korps.

The soldiers in this set are miniature replicas of Afrika Korps soldiers.  There is an officer with his pistol, binoculars.  He wears the Iron Cross medal on his neck.  A rifleman with bayonet advances to the enemy.  Finally, a grenadier tosses the notorious German "potato masher" stick grenade. These are action poses!

World War II British Army Blokes

The British involvement in World War II began in 1939, shortly after Germany invaded Poland.  British troops were involved in all theaters of the War.  They fought in Europe, North Africa, Burma, China, Malaya, Singpaore and the Far East.  Dressed and equipped with practical uniforms and gear, the well-trained British forces were  a serious threat to their Axis enemies.

Our British Army Blokes are painted in the uniforms of World War II.  The green-tinged field gear quickly faded to khaki tan.  Brown drab was standard for British forces fighting in temperate areas, such as Europe.   Our trio includes an officer, submachine gunner and grenadier.  These are action poses that have the feel of troops in battle!

By the way, "bloke" is a colloquial term for a man.  It is commonly used in Great Britain and Ireland.

Cold War Era British Army Blokes

Starting at the end of World War II, the British Army switched its uniform colors from brown drab to a drab green. Field gear was also issued in green.  The "turtle shell" helmet had replaced the old trench helmet. The result was a modern look. Green was the British uniform color from the Korean War on into the early 1970s, when camouflage replaced it.

British troops were busy in the Cold War era.  Along with service in Korea, green-clad soldiers found themselves dealing with insurgencies in Malaya, Kenya, Oman, the Middle East and Northern Ireland.

Our trio of British Blokes includes an officer with Webley pistol, a grenadier and a soldier firing an automatic weapon.  These are excellent poses packed with action. They are a piece of history marking Great Britain's military expeditions during the Cold War.

By the way. "bloke" is British slang for a man.

Snow Commandos

Winter warfare brings a whole new set of conditions to warriors. The freezing temperatures and snow-covered landscape make their own demands. Troops must be trained for warfare in winter and arctic conditions. The usefulness of well-trained soldiers in winter was shown by the Finns, who wreaked havoc on the invading Russian army by using winter to their advantage.

Every modern army takes great pains to prepare men for Winter. The annual exercises in Alaska kept the US Army and Marines ready for cold weather combat. NATO allies train for winter in the Norwegian glaciers. Troops are given white uniforms to blend with the snow and special insulated gear to keep off the chill.

The Snow Commando set includes with an officer, submachine gunner and automatic rifleman. They are dressed in white winter gear, ready for action in snow and ice. These snow commandos rule the frigid places. There is a set here for you to add to your collection. The fun starts when you open the box!
