Thor and Audrey's O27 "The Tinplate World"

This is the fifth year we have hosted The Tinplate World  Unlike the Crawfords and N-Trak, whose railways are already set onto bases, our railroad is set up entirely "on the spot."  We decide upon an impromptu "track plan" and get to work.  Thor does track and wiring, while Audrey emplaces small scenes and vignettes.  Most of our trains and accessories are older vintage pieces.

Some things are there every year, such as the animated ski hill, lighthouse, and carousels.  Some change from year to year. This is the first year we included the Wooden Castle, an antique toy from Britain, and the knights which we hand-cast and  hand-paint.  This is also the first year we included our own collection of painted antique and modern miniature people.

Long view of the O27 Railway.  This train includes animated cars with cartoon characters such as the Nemo aquarium car, Buzz and Woody from Toy Story, Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam, the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote, and the Mickey Mouse speedboat on flat car.

The side table with castle.  The Blue Comet runs on the outside track.  Red train is "Sparky," an M 10,000  by Marx  You can see both carousels, and ski hill with animated skiers, the castle and the Lionel "45 Gateman" accessory..

A clear look at the larger portion of the layout.

An NYC E7 hurtles past tin Oak Park Station and the Victorian Carousel, hauling a load of gray 6" tin NYC passenger cars.

The train passes between the woodland carousel and animated ski mountain.  Both accessories are very popular with children

Audrey set up the zoo beside a Victorian home and park.  In foreground is the bell signal which rings every time the train passes in front of it.
