The layouts shown here are very small, indeed! However, they are excellent for the individual who likes to work on scenery, since good scenic work would make any of these a masterpiece. The advantage of N scale is that you get all the operational abilities of larger scales in a much smaller space. Here is the proof.
Note that most layouts are actually expansions or alterations of a basic type. In the following pages, we used six basic layout types as a base for creating the many track plans you see here.
Be aware that in such tight spaces, you can still substitute. Some have used these plans and substituted #4 switches for #6, where the #6 was indicated. This is not to say that substitution will work seamlessly. It is but an idea that worked for a few, and might not work for everybody.
