The American Army uniform varied greatly as World War II progressed. The policy was to issue older stores first, and follow with newer equipment. That meant great variations in uniform. No less than one shade of khaki and two shades of Olive Green were used for field gear. Uniforms varied from brown drab to green. Usually, the same uniforms was shared by an entire unit. Sometimes there was a mix. The photos here show the uniforms taken the day before the Normandy Landings. They are a good reference for coloring American troops accurately.
