Early World War II US Army Uniforms in Color

Now and then we comb the government archives.  This time ,we found clear color images of American soldiers circa 1941 - 1943. All of these photos were taken in the United States.  They clearly depict several of the uniforms issued at the time.  Note that the Army combat uniforms varied greatly, according to the supply situation.  Older khaki tan uniforms and equipment were issued throughout the war, even as the newer olive drab gear became available

The old trench helmet was still issued for training.  Here two soldiers in overcoats set up a transit while officer in battle jacket watches.
