COMIC BOOK WAR GAMES

"SUPREME COMMAND"

A BATTLE GAME BY HELEN OF TOY, CO.

comicwargameSupremeCommand.jpg

Supreme Command was a complex "tournament type game" according to the directions which promised to become "more challenging and enjoyable" each time it was played. Object was to occupy the Enemy HQ with one Tank and one Unit (or just three Units.)

Movement was controlled by a 12-digit spinner card called the "Battle Calculator."

The reference images above show what the game looked like. The image shows the Original Box (with comic book ad stuck to it), Playmat, plastic Game Pieces, a Card of other game pieces (resting on top of box), Spinner and Directions.

It seems the ships and other accessories were exactly like those from the Helen of Toy game Task Force, though the playmat is different and the directions are quite different than Task Force. (See bottom of page for close ups of some Helen of Toy game ships.)

See link below to view Page One of the original directions. Page Two is available by email if you need it - they were too big to fit on the directions page.)

Below, we have shown a sampling of some Helen of Toy ships which were utilized in war games like "Supreme Command", "Task Force", "Convoy Terror" and "Fighting Ships." A typical US Quarter coin is shown for size reference. The large Aircraft Carriers are 5" long.

Also shown below are two "Gyroscopic Indicators" (top-like Spinners with the digits 1 - 6 on them) which were used like dice in the Fighting Ships and Convoy Terror games to determine the number of moves each player would get per turn.
