Doorway Layouts for Atlas O

30 inch by 77 inch layouts for two-and three-rail O gauge

The challenge - can a two-rail layout be made on a doorway?  The answer is a qualified yes.  Two-rail O gaugers will have to use two-rail flexible track to create all curves, as no sectional track is available in the tighter radii.  Three-railers can use sectional track.  The layouts also use the #5 and #7.5 switches which Atlas makes for both scales.  Two-raillers can make trolley systems and small industrial railways in this small space, using shorter cars and locomotives.  "Critters", Porters and Docksiders are at home here.

Three-railers have a wider variety of trains available.  Anything that can handle a 27 inch diameter curve can be used.

Keep in mind that these layouts started as a challenge.  I wanted to see if it could be done - and it can!

A simple railway.  You can run trolleys or industrial freights.

The one concession you have to make is to cut the upper left section of the crossover in order to fit.  This layout works well as a trolley pike and a small industrial railway.
