Standard Gauge

4' by 8' Layouts

The layouts shown here are for Standard Gauge trains and equipment. We have tried to use scenery contemporary with these trains as much as possible. Note that along with the reproduction tinplate scenery made today, many Postwar-era accessories are scaled for Standard rather than O Gauge. When making a Standard Gauge railway, a true "scale" is impossible. 'Scale" was not an issue for the Standard Gauge designers. However, have in mind an approximate scale. We use an approximation of either 1/32 or 1/24. These are common scales in the model buildings hobbies and, thanks to G Scale, popular within the model train hobby.
