When shooting Hoboken's Lackawanna Terminal, we have often seen this elusive fellow in the distance. He is usually parked near the electrical shop. The closest we ever got was a quick panning shot from the Port Jervis train. Imagine the surprise to see the GG1 within reach, just outside the Bush train sheds! Though light was relatively poor, we managed to capture these fine photographs of one of the last remaining GG1 locomotives. Note that NJ Transit purposely keeps him in Pennsy livery.
There is an ironic note to the story. From Hoboken, we were headed to Newark's Penn Station, where we used to ride trains pulled by GG1s.
