Quaint Layouts for Small Garden Railroads

These layouts continue expanding from a simple design.  Here are a few of the myriad permutations you can use.  Because the layouts are for small space, we used 4' diameter curves in our plans.  You can increase to 5' diameter curves if you have additional space.

Layout size: 5' by 10' The simple Dogbone is a basic design for model railroaders ( 2) AC #11000 12in straight 2.50 5.00 (20) AC #11100 4ft curve 2.50 50.00 Total of 22 pieces costing $ 55.00 of AristoCraft G-gauge track	Layout Size: 6' by 13' By adding a straight vertically, and then adding curves, we get a pattern we call "Myopia."  Here, we illustrate how it might be used with shrubs. Layout size: 6' by 12" By removing the horizontal straights, we get this design, again illustrated with shrubs. (28) AC #11100 4ft curve 2.50 70.00 ( 2) AC #11000 12in straight 2.50 5.00 Total of 30 pieces costing $ 75.00 of AristoCraft G-gauge track	If you should wish to use 5' instead of 4' diameter curves, there is a simple formula.  For each full circle of track horizontally, as 1' too the size of the layout.  Now do the same vertically. For the first layout, add 1' vertically and 1 foot 6" horizontally. For the next two Dogbone layouts, add 1' vertically and 3' horizontally For the last 4 layouts, add 2' vertically and 3' horizontally.
Layout size: 8' by 12' We took the third layout and reversed the center curve on top to get this pattern (28) AC #11100 4ft curve 2.50 70.00 ( 2) AC #11000 12in straight 2.50 5.00 Total of 30 pieces costing $ 75.00 of AristoCraft G-gauge track	Layout size: 10' by 12' Inverting the bottom to match the top provides this shamrock-type layout.  It is especially good around a large garden in the center. Layout size 9' by 12' By removing the vertical straights, we get a tighter pattern.  Here are some possible placements of plants.
