Large Scale Track Plans

Simple, Fun Layouts for Garden Railroads

The layouts in this section offer entertaining action while working well in a garden.  Most were inspired by older O Gauge layouts which have been out there for a long time.  G track is very different from O, and so a precise copy would have been impossible.  Likewise, Garden Railroading is operated very differently from O Gauge.  These layouts are for the Garden.  Note that the plans are far from perfect.  On some layouts, you may have to fudge track an inch or so somewhere.  What is fine on paper usually alters slightly once real trackwork begins.

Note that I planned these for Aristocraft track.

For the next section of layouts, just use the link at the bottom of the page

Another small layout for a 12' by 8' area, with two circles.  Again, center them around a prominent garden feature for best effect.  A fine two-train operation!

These layouts show you how to expand to accomodate your garden.  You can expand lenghtwise or outward to make a railway that fits your garden best.  All of these layouts allows plenty of action.

The layouts to the side again follow the idea of track circles to surroung prominent features in your garden.
