Double-Loop Pondside Layouts

Easy-to-make layouts for use around dogbone or kidney shaped pools.

This pair of layouts is for a decorative garden railway that runs around a small pond or pool.  They are especially good for dogbone- and kidney-shaped pools.  You get a nice visual effect of a continuously-running train.  They are easily expanded and altered to suit your particular garden.  Naturally, classic small steam-type locomotives look best on these fine little railways.

This 13' by 20' layout uses a 30 degree crossover leading to a double-tracked bridge.  5' curves were used here.  This is a variant of the classic "figure 8" track layout common in many of the O and HO old train sets.

This 14' by 22' layout makes an interesting use of 5' curves and the 30 degree crossover.  A train will make two passes around the pool.  though we have shown the two loops of track placed closely together, you can space them further apart and plant between them or place rocks and scenery for a more varied journey.
