What follows are various track plans for S Gauge. Some are original, most are converted from some of my favorite O Gauge layouts. In converting, the shape often changes due to the different standard lengths and curves of S Gauge. For instance, a circle of basic S Gauge curves comprises 12 pieces, while O has 8. There may be places where you will have to cut track, or fudge it to make it fit. These layouts are well worth the added effort. Many have remained popular for over 50 years because they offer so much to the model railroader.
Note: reverse tracks in S Gauge, like all two-rail system, require a special controller. The controller and instructions are available from normal S Gauge sources.

For a freight pike, you can't beat this one! 11' by 9' of switching action packed within a large main line! The roundhouse makes a nice centerpiece for a main freight terminal and locomotive shop. |

You can run two or three trains on this pike, and more thanks to the long sidings. Note the reverse track area. |
