Novelty Figures and Party Favors

There are toy soldiers which are made by the novelty market and sold as party favors and cake decorations. Many children's parties have a theme, and novelties are designed to fit the various party themes. Soldiers, ninja, pirates, knights, spacemen and other figures are popular characters for theme parties. Most novelties based on combat-type figures are party-type ornaments rather than toy soldiers. Prize holders, candy items and caricatures are prominent here.

These look like the Tim Mee "Vietnam" soldiers. Their weapons have been replaced by tubes for holding large lollipops. Soldiers stand approximately 2 1/4 inches (54mm) tall.

The package tells the tale: these figures are based on characters from a popular movie.

Ninja Figures are made of a soft, rubber-like plastic. They stand about 1 1/4 inches tall and are caricatures, to be sure. The different colors and small size would make them interesting playing pieces in a Ninja-era game. Sold as party favors.

These rubber-like soldiers are also sold as party favors. They have six poses, as shown above. Though caricatures, they could be used as scenic figures in some O27 train layouts. Troops stand about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches tall.

We also found this nice, painted set of small dinosaurs packaged as party favors.
