In the 1950s, Marx introduced its 'Army Training Center' playsets. These included one or two tin buildings - a barracks and an office - plus troops, vehicles and equipment. One version was even named "Fort Dix," a major training center at the time. Training Center sets includes Marx's 45mm figures, doing a variety of activities from marching and eating to using weapons. Mark, a member of our Email group, sent us these photos of the 45mm Training Center soldiers.
I had acquired the buildings myself, for use with tinplate trains. These include a barracks and small headquarters. The HQ was a pattern of stamped metal pieces which was used for several structures. The manufacturer only had to change the lithographic printing to use the same building for an Army office, construction office, station, etc. (There is a link to the buildings on the second page / part of 45mm figures.)
