The Berlin-based Merten company produced a variety of figures. It is best known for its Medieval 40mm figures. However, no German figure maker would pass up the lucrative genre of the American West. German children were fascinated with the West, thanks to novels by Karl May and imported Hollywood films. Merten produced a fanciful 40mm range of Cowboys and Indians. It is typical of German sets depicting the American West.
