Classic Lionel Layouts Revisited

4' by 8' crossover layout for O and O27



The crossover layouts were quite popular with Lionel. On this page ,we have both the O27 and O gauge versions. They were intended to be used with Lionel trestles. Consult the original drawings for placement of piers and the elevations. These layouts look simple enough, but the artists did not get it quite right I had to make several adjustments and even add track to the O27 plan to make it work. Accessories are Postwar Era (1945 - 1969) Lionel items. They were used on all plans merely for consistency. Some may or may not work with Fastrack, Realtrax, Super O or Atlas O. Most have been reissued by Lionel and / or MTH in the past 20 years and so can be found at relatively reasonable prices.

The MTH Realtrax, Lionel Fastrack, Atlas O and Super O require an area larger than 4' by 8.
